Juvederm for Fine Lines
While you may see commercials for expensive creams and lotions that claim to erase fine lines and wrinkles, the truth is that these products only work before you get wrinkles. Once you see the wrinkles, you must look for another remedy.
Botox is a good solution for forehead lines and crow’s feet, while Juvederm fillers are more appropriate for nasolabial folds, marionette lines and smile lines on the cheeks. Our dentist injects small amounts of Juvederm gel along the line of the wrinkle, filling it in and making it less prominent.
Juvederm Filler for Cheeks
Part of the issue with aging is loss of facial volume, which can be experienced as hollows in the cheeks or under the eyes. This hollowness in the cheeks can increase the folding in the nasolabial area. Our dentist can inject Juvederm filler into the cheeks to increase volume for a more youthful appearance. This will also decrease the nasolabial folds.
In some cases, Juvederm filler can also be used under the eyes to fill in hollows. Juvderm does not work for every under-eye issue, however.
Plump Lips with Juvederm
When the body no longer produces collagen, elastin or hyaluronic acid, lips lose volume over time, becoming thinner and narrower. This is especially true of the top lip. Injections of Juvederm filler can correct this problem.
Our dentist will discuss with you your goals for the fullness of your lips, then place the injections accordingly. Some patients prefer a dramatic look while others want a more natural look.
Recovery Time After Juvederm
Recovery is different for each patient. Most patients have slight bruising along the injection path that can be easily covered with makeup. You may also experience slight swelling. Both the swelling and the bruising should resolve within a few days to a week.
Before our dentist injects your Juvederm filler, we numb the area with an anesthetic cream to make the process more comfortable for you. After your injections, your cheeks, lips or under-eye area may remain numb for an hour or so. You may want to avoid eating or drinking during this time.
